Helping You Live a Healthy and Nutritious Lifestyle

Many of us seek out quick fixes or easy ways to live healthier and get the nutrition our bodies need.  The truth is, there is no magic switch that can make everything better, even diets take time, if that’s a path you choose to take.

Thankfully, the body is a wonderous thing and small changes can be made in our daily lives to assist us in creating a healthy and nutritious lifestyle!

A healthier lifestyle is not accomplished through nutrition alone.  There are many decisions we make on a daily basis which affect how our body feels.  Decisions such as eating the right amount of fruits/vegetables, getting enough sleep, engaging in exercise and many more, unique to all of us.  This way of life is one the Georgetown Fitness family also believes in. The professionals here can give expert advice or just answer questions you may have regarding a healthy lifestyle.  To help get you started, the professionals at Georgetown Fitness have a few tips to making small changes your body may benefit from.

Good Sleep Schedule

Getting the right amount of sleep is important to your body being prepared for the day ahead.  Whenever it is you lay down to get your rest for the day, try to establish a pattern for sleeping and waking up.  1Studies have shown that a better sleep schedule can assist in lowering Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, A1c and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and strokes.

Meal Timing

Just like establishing a good sleep routine, the same can be said for eating patterns.  Fueling your body at consistent times throughout the day will help boost your metabolism and decrease hunger urges.  Everyone has different internal makeup, so eating times are based on each individual and should be adjusted accordingly.

More Fruits and Vegetables

Only 10% of Americans get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day.  This is due to several reasons such as, prep time, cost, and availability. To help cut down prep time, you can look for pre-cut fruits or veggies to grab on the go.  If you want to save money, try and get to one of the many farmers markets throughout Buffalo. Many people often forget that over 50% of our body is made up of water.  To maintain proper body function, it is very important to ensure you are getting enough fluids (water) throughout the day.  Sure, sports drinks, pops and juices are fluids, but our bodies do not utilize them like water. A good general rule for hydration throughout the day is drinking half your body weight in fluid ounces.  For example, if you weigh 150lbs, you should try and consume at least 75 ounces of water a day to remain hydrated. It can seem tasking at first, but your body will adjust and ultimately reap all the great benefits of being hydrated.

The tips we just discussed only scratch the surface on how you can improve your health and lifestyle.  Even with this small amount of information, the process can seem difficult or not possible. Here at Georgetown Fitness, our professionals understand this daunting process and want to help guide you on a path to success and a healthy lifestyle.
